Relationship Fund for Relate Aldershot & Basingstoke
People affected by the recession in the N Hampshire and Surrey borders area will be able to access subsidised relationship and family counselling from Relate Aldershot and Relate Basingstoke from today thanks to new Government funding.
Nationally Relate, the UK’s largest provider of relationship counselling, will receive £1 million over the next two years to fund extra counselling and relationship support for couples snd families who may have been affected by the recession. Relate Aldershot will receive up to £6,331 and Relate Basingstoke up to £5,855 for local couples and families.
Claire Howe, from Relate Aldershot, said: “Having money worries doesn’t just affect your bank balance it can lead to relationships becoming strained. However there is no reason to suffer in silence. Families and couples who are finding tensions at home getting too much might be surprised what a difference a few sessions could make.”
Recently a quarter (25%) of families and one in five (22%) of couples, admitted to arguing more because of the recession (1) and two thirds of Relate Centres have seen an increase in clients since the recession began (2).
The money is for people who have been affected by the recession and are finding their relationships, with their partner or family members, taking the strain. At an assessment interview clients will be able to discuss their needs and their ability to pay.
