How we work
Relate has a team of experienced relationship counsellors and sex therapists. We work with thousands of people each year and although each person and couple we see is unique, the level of experience and training that we have means that we are well equipped to help you.
We appreciate that this may be the first time that you have talked to anyone about this very personal subject, but hopefully we will reassure you that it's OK to talk about the issues you have, using the words that are easiest for you, without any embarrassment or awkwardness on our part.
We like to work with clients face to face and ideally with both partners together, but again we appreciate that this might present a problem for some people.
Maybe you and your partner have difficulty being in the same place at the same time because of work commitments (e.g. if you were looking to attend weekly sessions together)?
Maybe you can't imagine meeting a sex therapist and discussing your problem face to face? This is where an initial assessment appointment is really useful as it is your opportunity to meet with one of our Sex Therapists and talk about your relationship and help determine whether you would find a weekly sex therapy session helpful. There is no obligation at the end of the initial assessment to proceed with regular counselling if you chose not to.
